Marlborough Writers is a friendly group welcoming those who have written work to be enjoyed by others – e.g. prose, poetry, script, memoir, travel, biography, popularised factual, blog.
We welcome any style, genre, age (16 and above), background, ethnicity, etc. We do this because a wide variety of writers and writing is beneficial to skill and voice, keep it invigorated and exciting.
We don’t specialise so we don’t ghettoise. We stand at the mountain top, not inside an echo chamber.
It is free to attend, but we ask that you support and thank the pub by buying food or drink.
Our structure is to meet monthly and peer critique three pieces per meeting sent in advance. Feedback is supportive and encouraging; we each say what we like (and why) and what we think could be improved, for our fellow writer to take away and consider. On average, writers can expect to have their work critiqued every three months.
Our meeting room is wheelchair accessible. If you have other requirements, eg deaf/hearing impairment, or you prefer not to meet in an area licensed for alcohol, we can work it out, just get in contact.
If you would like to come along or have events, competitions, services that you think we might be interested in, click here to email Louisa.
We meet at The Lamb Inn, 5 The Parade, Marlborough, Wiltshire SN8 1NE. Marlborough is close to Swindon, Hungerford, Newbury, Devizes, Calne, Chippenham, Pewsey and Tidworth.
